Press pause on busy city life for a moment and hop aboard our Libations Trail Ride as we drive down the booziest road in Central Texas - Fitzhugh Road in Dripping Springs. Here we will experience some of the Texas Hill Country’s most unique breweries and distilleries.
It’s only fitting that your first stop is at Jester King Brewery — the Libations Trail pioneer. Their large, spread out landscape alone is a hill country must see. The outside is scattered with picnic tables, lights strung throughout the trees and families with their dogs strolling around the grounds. As you approach the entry, a friendly staff member greets you and hands you their incredibly detailed tasting room menu. Through clear, sunny skies you are free to venture to the outdoor bar or inside to the tasting room where you can try over 60 craft beers. The Figlet was a favorite among our trail riders. Once you pick your favorite brew, walk down the cobblestone steps and let your nose guide you to Stanley’s Farmhouse Pizza. This local favorite serves up some of the best wood-fire pizzas in the Texas Hill Country. After enjoying your complimentary slice, take some time to adventure the grounds and then join us back on the bus for our next stop.
As we arrive at our next stop, you will notice several small barns – don’t let this fool you. Between Argus Cidery, Revolution Spirits and Last Stand Brewery – this stop is a hidden gem along the Libations Trail. Argus Cidery was the first cidery in Texas opening in 2010. Inside you will find a quaint tasting room with personalized decor to sip on a dry cider. The Argus experts are happy to chat with you as you view their fermentation tanks and enjoy a quick tour of their facility. If you get the chance, try their seasonal Vino Pearde - made with crisp, delicious pears. Walk down the road to Last Stand Brewing Company and get yourself what Austin Beer Guide recognizes as the Best New Beer of 2016 - a Smash IPA Citra. Sip on craft beers while enjoying a popular sports broadcast in their laid back tasting room. Next door you will stumble upon some unique spirits crafted by Revolution Spirits. If you prefer gin, and even if you don’t, we dare say that their gin infused with rosemary is quite possibly the most flavorful gin you will ever drink. Just a sip and your mouth and nose will be buzzing with flavor from the aromas. If you’re a coffee contessiour, their Cafecito Coffee Liqueur made with local Cuvée Coffee is an absolute must. Treat yourself and buy a bottle, or two, because you could definitely sip on these spirits all day.
The Texas Hill Country spirit is alive and well as we hop aboard to our last stop - Treaty Oak Brewing and Distilling. Step inside the barn for your complimentary spirit tasting and enjoy the options of gin, vodka, rum, and whiskey. Their signature Sweet Tea Vodka is a delight for all preferences. After the tasting, mosey around their gift shop area where you will enjoy 20% off of all merchandise. To get a crash course on all things Treaty Oak, meet under the signature oak tree for a tour of the distillery and brewery floor. On the tour you’ll see their bottle capper, label machines and barrels of spirits. Be sure to smell the gin botanicals and look for Turk, the friendly resident peacock that may decide to accompany you along the way. Treaty Oak started kegging and serving their signature beers recently and should be canning next summer.
